Le clochard,
The vagabond
Drinking vodka whisky and wine
all I have is a few dollars and a dime
I walk along the road
wearing my black coat
bought when I had a job
once upon a time when life was less odd.
I'm speaking on my own
'cause I'm walking all alone.
I don't have a goal
except finding some coal
to start a fire
and make my heart jump higher.
Under the bridge is where I sleep
wrapped in the cold and the dark deep.
There I am in the night,
an old man holding his bottle tight.
My only friend
in this lonesome land.
Some say I'm a vagabond,
but what I am is far beyond.
